Representing Off-Campus Students. Protecting Your Welfare. Amplifying Your Voice.

Representing off-campus students through the University of Botswana Student Parliament (UBSP) by advancing policy and action, and collaborating with the University of Botswana Student Representative Council (UBSRC) to address rising living costs and improve student welfare.

Key Issues We Handle

We handle off-campus student issues, including housing, transport, safety, tenancy, utilities, and general welfare.

Housing

Addressing housing challenges affecting off-campus students.

Transport

Handling issues related to commuting to and from campus.

Security

Ensuring the safety and protection of off-campus students.

Student Welfare

Partnering with SRCs, we champion off-campus student welfare at UB and nationwide; driving solutions in health, mental health, academics, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and internships.

Thabile Jonathan Jaroschek — UBOCA Chairperson

“Off-campus students have long been marginalised within UB’s political system, and the same issues are often met with recycled solutions: not because they cannot be solved, but because the path of least resistance has become the norm. As your representative, I choose the path of most resistance, because real change demands new solutions.”

Campaigns

UB Off-Campus Support Fund

We are campaigning to establish a Subsidy Budget for off-campus students under the University of Botswana Off-Campus Association (UBOCA), designed to ease the financial burden of living costs. This budget will allow students to pay a portion of their expenses while the remaining costs are supported through the subsidy, helping to improve affordability and student welfare.
